At DDE, Together We Grow!

DDE is committed to creating Young Environmental Stewards (YES!) in PreK to Grade 5. Supported by the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund and the Ventus Charitable Foundation, DDE will further foster and cultivate a community of environmentally conscious learners who appreciate the interconnectedness of nature through the study of environmental sciences.

The Environmental Science and Field Research program offers the opportunity for students to become Young Environmental Stewards (YES!) where they explore and evaluate the many challenges and concerns related to our environment including gopher tortoise preservation, sustainable gardening that provides healthy food options, ecosystem restoration, recycling, aquatic life protection, and energy conservation. This hands-on, high-interest, experiential learning builds student awareness of their responsibility of protecting and caring for the environment. Student-centered field experiences developed through scientific inquiry introduce environmental concepts that students will value and continue to develop throughout their lives.

Exciting news for this year… Our Chickee Hut is complete! This outdoor classroom provides space to support students’ field research and environmental studies. We have recycled picnic tables under the hut and can house an entire grade level at a time.

We definitely have exciting days ahead for our school family!  We are so fortunate to have the support of the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund and the Ventus Charitable Foundation!
