Established 1970. Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Texas in 1890. He attended the United States Military Academy West Point. Before running for president in 1952, he commanded the Allied and NATO Forces. As the president, Eisenhower continued most of the New Deal and Fair Deal programs, emphasizing a balanced budget. As the desegregation of schools began, he sent troops into Little Rock, Arkansas, to ensure compliance with federal court orders. He also ordered the complete desegregation of the armed forces.
